You are here

A woman sits alone and reflects in church.

“Marta” is a young woman from the state of Guerrero, México who decided to flee after being harassed. She left behind her mother and her three brothers symbolized in this photo by the empty chairs.

Pray for Those Who Wander

Heavenly Father,
Your beloved son, Jesus, taught us to ask, to seek and to knock.
We come before you in this spirit of prayer
for those who are far from their homeland
walking the path of migrants.
They are our sisters and brothers,
refugees fleeing violence, families fleeing poverty.
They are knocking on our doors. They are seeking shelter.
They ask for our love, compassion and assistance.
They seek a place where they can live in peace and with dignity.
Help us to remember that we are all members
of your one human family.
Guide us to respond with your love
to those who are in need of our care.
Give us the courage to speak out on their behalf.
Your son, Jesus, experienced the hard days of exile
together with Mary and Joseph.
Help us to recognize him
in the faces of those who are marginalized.
Open our hearts to all who come in search of refuge.

Amen

"In prayer, God keeps calling us, opening our hearts to charity."

— Pope Francis

Light a Virtual Votive

Light a candle and say a prayer for your loved ones and our brothers and sisters around the world. Your intentions will be remembered at Mass offered by priests who are part of the Catholic Relief Services' Global Fellows program.

As Catholics, we recognize that prayer is of the utmost importance. In our mission to act with the Church to serve people around the world, we begin with prayer.
